Koronadal City— To guide those who communicate on behalf of their department during an emergency with risk communication principles and best practices, the Provincial Information Office spearheaded the Risk Communication Training.
Rudy Jimenea, Provincial Information Officer, said the training was developed as a result of the pandemic and other similar incidences that happened in South Cotabato.
“This is to prepare all the departments for the possible risks that may come in giving public service,” Jimenea told the participants.
The first batch of training was composed of at least 25 employees from the offices of the social welfare and development, agriculture, veterinary, treasurer, hospital, integrated provincial health, sangguniang panlalawigan, planning and development, environment management, risk, reduction and management, and law and order. These offices are frontline offices of the Capitol.
PIO created three interactive modules that make up the training and include an interactive scenario, practical tools, and an Emergency Communication Plan template that is to be completed throughout the training. These interactive modules help to facilitate engagement and retention of information.
“The training is also our gauge to plan out the campaigns we want to pursue and support in 2024,” Jimenea added.
The training is funded by the PIO, but the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office allocated funds to conduct similar training this September.
