At least 200 Indigenous people residents of Sitio Kule at Brgy. Salacafe at Tboli town will benefit from the package of services through the “Tama kg Maayo nga Pamilya Project” for IPs.
This project which will be funded under the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council chaired by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. will be implemented under the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
PADAC Focal person Genelene G.Vdanes said, an initial evaluation of the area was held prior to the implementation of the project to assess the need of the barangay.
The objective of the initiative is to reduce poverty and achieve equality for highly vulnerable households through the provision of sustainable livelihood projects. By achieving economic stability the residents will be empowered and become less vulnerable to any abuses such as illegal drugs.
During the observance of this year’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) week, an orientation was held for the residents of the barangay for them to be able to understand the essence of the program.
Vidanes said, Sitio Kule, which is one of the drop-off points to Lake Holon as a tourist destination was considered a vulnerable area for illegal drugs.
Through the program, the residents will be given livelihood projects and other social needs to prevent them from engaging in illegal drugs.
