25 new clients of Balay Silangan to undergo three-month reformatory program

Twenty-five new clients, consisting of 22 men and 3 women, were recently welcomed at the Balay Silangan Reformatory Center. These individuals will embark on a three-month reformatory program designed to transform their lives and help them break free from the grip of illegal drugs.

The program adopts a holistic approach, addressing various aspects of rehabilitation. It includes:

  • Education: Continuing classes for those who have not completed their studies.
  • Skills and Livelihood Training: Equipping clients with practical skills for future employment.
  • Health Awareness Activities: Focusing on physical and mental well-being.
  • Psychological, Spiritual, and Physical Activities: Aimed at fostering overall growth and resilience.
  • Moral Recovery and Values Formation: Encouraging the development of ethical and moral principles.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. emphasized the importance of this initiative in providing a fresh start for individuals striving to rebuild their lives. The program, offered free of charge, stands in stark contrast to private reformatory centers that charge P6,000 per month for similar services.

Collaborative Effort for Comprehensive Rehabilitation

The success of Balay Silangan is made possible through a strong partnership with various agencies, including:

  • Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XII
  • Local Government Unit of Tupi (LGU-Tupi)

  • South Cotabato Parole and Probation Office
  • 27th Infantry Battalion

This initiative underscores the province’s commitment to addressing the challenges of drug dependency through a comprehensive and inclusive rehabilitation approach.
