Koronadal City—The Anti-rabies vaccination rate among dogs in South Cotabato increased in 2022 compared to 2021, the Provincial Veterinary reported.
Dr. Byron dela Cruz, Veterinary Officer IV, said at least 44,000 dogs from various towns in the province received anti-rabies vaccines last year.
“Vaccine is the cheapest and easiest way to counter rabies,” he discussed during the weekly Hinunanon sa Kapitolyo.
In the City of Koronadal, South Cotabato provided anti-rabies vaccines to more than 60,000 dogs.
Meanwhile, PVET delivered 18 samples of dog heads for rabies confirmation in General Santos City, and 12 of the samples turned positive. Eight of these came from the City of Koronadal.
“Rabies is preventable, but it is also fatal. I am encouraging pet owners to submit their dogs for anti-rabies vaccination every year,” he pointed out.
PVET scheduled a regular vaccination all year round.
