Open Govt. Partnership’s Action Plan for 2021 – 22 has its commitment centered on the youth.
Harnessing Youth Power in Integrating Open Government Values and Mechanisms to Respond to Local and Community-Issues in the Province of South Cotabato, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the PPDO and the Youth Development Office (YDO) partnered with the Youth Alliance for Freedom of Information (YAFOI) for its Youth Ambassadorship Program.
At least 62 youths from all over the province were accommodated after the screening process, They will undergo various sessions in preparation for their roles as ambassadors of the youths in their respective communities and sectors. Representations come from the youths from the academe, PWDs, out-of-school youths, and IPs.
The YAFOI team headed by Mr. Vino Lucero, Convenor Emeritus, Mr. Yuri Lemana, Convenor, and Mr. Renzo Polangco, Education and Research Coordinator came over earlier for the Introduction to the Open Government Youth Ambassador Program at the Provincial Covered Court, Capitol Compound. Vice-Governor Arthur “Dodo” Y. Pingoy, Jr. with the presence of BM Antoinette Hurtado and Mr. Carlito Uy, the Chairman of the SCIC gave their messages for the event. Ms. Jobeelyn Baitus Corilla, the Youth Development Office Head, made sure that youths from various sectors are well represented and ensured that the succeeding sessions would be well attended.
This is a venue for the youths to have their voices heard and be involved in government plans and programs to ensure transparency and accountability in all their dealings.
This program under the Project Development Division headed by Ms. Marites Tanseco of the Provincial Planning and Development Office is given importance as one of the thrusts of Gov. Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. as his brand of management.
