Koronadal City, South Cotabato- Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go virtually attended the opening of the Malasakit Center via Zoom at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
The Malasakit Center is the 80th in the country and 3rd in Region XII, it is a one-stop shop where Filipinos, particularly the poor and indigent can ask for financial and medical assistance from the Department of Health (DoH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
The senator has stressed that the Malasakit Center plays an important role in helping Filipinos get the assistance they need in terms of their hospitalization, especially that the country is going through a health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
He said while he was still assistant to the then mayor of Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte, he has seen the predicament of Filipinos queuing in front of government offices and spending so much time, effort and money just to get any financial help to pay their hospital bills.
In connection to this, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. extended his gratitude through his launching message to Senator Bong Go and President Duterte for a making a charitable program because he can now assure the sustainability of his commitment of zero billing and free hospitalization to the people of South Cotabato.
