A total of 94.909 tourists visited the province from January to April this year, a tourism officer from the Arts, Culture, Tourism, Sports and Museum (ACTS) Promotions Unit reported.
Tourism Officer Annaliza Mondejar disclosed that out of the 4-month total of tourist arrivals reported, 68,108 were recorded as same day visitors or “excursionists.”
According to the standard set by the Department of Tourism, a visitor is considered a tourist if he or she slept overnight in an accommodation establishment (AE), thus, producing one “guest night.”
Peak months for tourist arrivals, the report showed, is April and March with 9,153 and 7,435 arrivals, respectively.
January and February likewise contributed to the large influx of visitors with a combined total of 11,586 arrivals.
Foreign visitors included in the tourist arrivals accounted to 856, according to the report.
The tourism office report was based from reports of AEs province-wide, excluding the City of Koronadal.
Lake Sebu, the province’s summer, eco-tourism and tilapia capital is still the favorite tourist destination.
