More than 200 barangay and purok officials all-over the province attended the Forum on Community-Based Treatment Program for Drug Offenders in accordance with Executive Order No. 66 on Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy on February 27, 2019, at the Capitol Covered Court. The activity spearheaded by the South Cotabato Parole and Probation Office was sponsored by the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC).
SCPPO Chief Ma. Bennie Lademora said, the activity aims to enhance the capability of these officials to monitor drug surrenderers whenever they go back to their respective communities.
Lademora said, more clients undergoing the plea bargaining agreement were referred to their office that they need the help of local officials coming from the 11 municipalities.
She added, their office which is only manned by two organic employees could not carry their tasks if not through the help of these people.
To date, their office is servicing at least 1,500 clients and it is expected to double this number by the end of this year.
Region 12 Parole and Probation Office Regional Director Rodrigo Manuel lauded the PADAC and the SCPPO for spearheading the activity.
“This is by far the first ever activity in the country,” he said.
He added all barangays should cooperate for the successful implementation of the PADS.
