Gov Tamayo expects “Malasakit Center” to operate this 1st quarter

KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. assured the public that before the end of the 1st quarter of the year “malasakit center” in the province will be operational.

“We have now ongoing repair of the portion of the provincial hospital to be use as our malasakit center”. Tamayo said in an interview during his monthly Governor Meets the Press.

If remembered, PRRD through the Department of Health (DOH) signed the Malasakit Center Act dated December 3, 2019, which establishes the Malasakit Program and institutionalizes Malasakit Centers in DOH and other government hospitals in the country.

The Malasakit Center is a One-Stop Shop where indigent patients can efficiently access financial medical assistance from agencies such as PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The governor is consistent in appealing for unity between the executive and legislative bodies of South Cotabato.

“I am always positive for the smooth alliance between the executive and the legislative. At the end of the day, we are doing this for the general welfare of our constituents.” He said.

The Governor also assures that the national government pledge for the full support of this program.

“The office of the Malacañang assures that once the facilities are established, they will automatically download the budget for its operation in the province.” He added.

Currently, a total of 74 Malasakit Centers were established nationwide with 45 centers in DOH hospitals, 28 centers in LGU-operated hospitals, and one center in the Philippine General Hospital.
