37 former rebels receive financial assistance

KORONADAL CITY- At least 37 former rebels receive Php20,000 each as financial assistance from the Provincial Government of South Cotabato during the turn-over ceremony held today at Villa Princessita, this city.

The cash assistance is part of the intervention and initiative of Governor Raynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) worth Php740,000.

On behalf of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. Executive Assistant IV Rudy S. Jimenea graced the event and handed over the cash assistance as their starting capital.

Jimenea also encourages other members of the group to abandon the armed struggle and return to the government to gain a peaceful and smooth way of living with their family.

“Nagsurrender kami kay indi makaya ang bukid layo pud kag kapoy mas nalipay kami karun kay nagabulig gid sa amon ang gobyerno ilabi na sa pareha sa amon nga pigado.” Alyas “Bert” said during the interview.

Alyas “Bert” is one of the 37 surrenderee who shares his testimony and the reason why he made to surrender.

He also wants to encourage his fellow members who are still in the mountain to return and be provided by the government interventions.
