Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr. disclosed that the latest testing kit for Corona Virus Disease (CoViD)-19 developed by Israel may provide relief to suspected CoViD-19 individuals who wish avail of the test kit.
Dr. Aturdido explained that the present testing kits used by the country’s health professionals, the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR), employed nasal and throat swabs to detect the presence of the virus.
The swabs are sent to laboratories and results are usually available in 24 to 48 hours and the tests are 95-97% accurate, experts confirmed.
According to latest national media reports, a private group in Manila is endorsing the latest Israeli-developed CoViD-19 test kit to health authorities since it only swab the saliva and nasal mucus which is very convenient to suspected individuals.
The newly developed product is portable in design that inserts saliva or nasal swabs in the test kit and produces results in 30 minutes.
Aturdido stressed that if the Israeli-made test kits are approved and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), he is amenable for its use to suspected CoViD-19 individuals for their convenience.
