South Cotabato’s Covid 19 –Contact Tracing System (SC-CCTS was recognized as one of the innovative ways to combat the pandemic as it was awarded as 2nd place to the Best in COVID-19 Pandemic response (G2P) award during the Digital Governance Awards held today December 11, 2020, in Metro Manila.
The initiative is a joint project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP).
Based on the memorandum circular issued by the DILG, there are at least five categories for the DGA awards. For the Best in COVID-19 Pandemic response (G2P) award , it recognizes the Local Government Units which are extremely adaptable to the unusual circumstances presented by the Covid-19 pandemic in the timely delivery of their services with the use of ICT solutions. It rewards quick-thinking, innovation, and resourcefulness.
Aside from South Cotabato, other awardees include the province of Davao de Oro as the 3rd placer for its Online medical consultation, which is a platform that uses a virtual doctor.
Iloilo province won First place for its web-based reverse contract tracing app that would fast track the reporting of residents with probable exposure to COVID-19 patients known as Reverse Isolation and Contact Tracing Application (RIsC TrAp).
Information Technology Officer Mike Sonza Galang expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the awards.
“Ang pagkilalang ito ay malaking inspirasyon sa amin para pagbutihin ang aming mga ginagawa. Kahit nasa dulo ng parte ng Pilipinas, ito ay nagpapoatunay na kaya po naming mag-innovate upang makapagbigay ng magandang serbisyo.” Galang said,
Out of the more than a thousand local government units in the country, South Cotabato is one of the 56 LGUs who were given an award for the five categories of the DGA.
Other categories include the following;
Best in Customer Empowerment (G2C) award which recognizes the effect of an LGUs practices using ICT solutions in its dealings with the public. This includes ICT solutions towards providing improved, timely, and relevant delivery of public services directly to the constituents.
Best in Business Empowerment (G2B) award, which awards the effect of an LGU’s practices in integrating ICT solutions, and the commitment of its administration, in the LGU’s responsiveness to the needs of the business enterprise, thereby creating business opportunities.
Best in LGU empowerment (G2G) awards which focuses on the LGU’s initiative to connect data and systems with other government offices, both national and local for the convenience of of their constituents and to improve its public service delivery.
Best in Government Internal Process (G2I) award which focuses on the efforts of the LGUs in developing or improving its internal system and in adhering to various recognized standards, to be able to provide better service to its internal customers.
Digital Governance Awards on its nine years to date, is an annual event recognizing Local Government Units’ best practices in utilizing ICT for the effective and efficient delivery of public services to local communities and business stakeholders.
