Former Rebels Receive Starter Kits, Financial Assistance

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) South Cotabato, and Umani Cabal Farm, Inc. conducted the awarding of starter kits and financial assistance to forty six (46) former rebels in South Cotabato on November 13, 2020 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

The surrenderers received twenty thousand pesos (P20,000.00) each from the provincial government represented by Provincial Administrator Atty. Renette B. Bergado, and nineteen (19) of them were given starter kits by the TESDA Region XII headed by Regional Director Rafael Y. Abrogar II.

The nineteen (19) who received the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) starter toolkit underwent the Special Kills Training Program Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NC II at the Umani Cabal Farm, Inc. in the City of Koronadal last year. The training program was held from September 30, 2019 to November 2, 2019.

One (1) of them was granted seventy five thousand pesos (P75,000.00) under the firearms remuneration program.

The event was also graced by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Ms. Haide D. Agustin, Board Members Hon. Antonio B. Fungan and Hon. Edgar G. Sambog, Ms. Mary Grace A. Rodel, and other E-CLIP focal persons.

The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) is a program of the national government that encourages the members of the CPP-NPA-NDF and the Militia ng Bayan to surrender and return to the folds of the government. It aims to help and assist the former rebels, including their spouses, children, parents, and siblings, in starting a new life.
