Potable water systems priority among sitios and puroks in SouthCot

The provincial government of South Cotabato is determined to provide potable water systems to all sitios in the province until next year with the continued implementation of the  Convergence program for poverty alleviation.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. said, not all sitios especially coming from the far-flung barangays have potable water systems.

For this year,  at least 44 sitios coming from the 90 barangays in the province is set to avail of these facilities.

However, Tamayo is determined to reach out to all 199 barangays of the province to ensure that this basic need is fully availed by all constituents.

“Water is very important to people’s lives, they should avail of it.”  He said,

During the Monday Flag Raising ceremony held earlier, Tamayo said, public servants should always be aware of their role in bringing change to peoples’ lives, especially so that many are affected by the pandemic.

“We in the government should be aware of what services to prioritize since people rely on us.” He said,

Tamayo reiterates that instead of putting other infrastructure projects such as gymnasiums and stages, the focus should be on the impact of the projects on the people.

“Our gauge should be, if the project is  badly needed, needed but not  now, or not needed but is also pleasing to have if available.” He said,

Aside from water systems, areas of prioritization in the province to alleviate poverty include the construction of roads, livelihood programs, education, electricity among others.

Tamayo called on all the cooperation of everyone especially to the offices concerned to fast-track the establishments of these water systems.
