19  “Balay Silangan” clients avail Php10k livelihood grant from PADAC

KORONADAL CITY- At least 19 clients of the  “Balay Silangan” Reformatory Center benefited from the financial assistance amounting to Php10,000 from the ANGAT (Alalay Sa Negosyo, Ginhawa at Trabaho) program implemented under the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) chaired by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.

Earlier today, a Training and Orientation on ANGAT Program and Release of Capital Seed Fund was conducted and was attended by the beneficiaries coming from the first batch of clients at the “Balay Silangan”  Reformatory Center at Agua Frio Resort this city.

Provincial Social Welfare Officer Haide D. Agustin said, out of the 46 clients during the first batch, only 19 recipients were qualified for the Php10,000 grant.

“This is a dole-out fund from the province and the beneficiaries need not pay the amount but they will undergo monitoring after six months,” Agustin said,

During the program, Community Affairs Officer III Earl Rey C. Madres conducted the orientation on ANGAT program; Program Coordinator Allan C. Dignadice lectured on Values Formation; Community Development Assistant Aprelle Exalyn Pagunsan lectured on Bookkeeping and Basic Business Management; while Skills Trainer Allan C. Gulvin conducted training on Making Slippers as one of the Livelihood Skills.

PADAC has allocated a total of Php500,000 coming from its 2020 fund for the said program.

“The 19 beneficiaries are initial recipients only. Other batches will undergo assessment for them to be able to avail of the program.” She added,

For the 2nd batch, at least 47 await the assessment, while 32 more clients for the 3rd batch.

Based on their assessments, some of the income-generating projects these clients proposed to use their seed fund include tailoring, painting, sari-sari store, Barbecue and burger selling, farming, carinderia, welding shop, hog raising, motorcycle repair shop, and rice store.

For this year, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato has allocated Php2 million for the said program.

“This means more clients can be accommodated from the said program,” Agustin said,

She disclosed that not all can avail of the grant since some clients are financially stable.

“We only accommodate those who are really in need.”  She said,

Meanwhile, PADAC has crafted the ANGAT 2 program, which accommodates registered associations such as cooperatives, peoples’ organizations, DOLE and SEC-registered, and other accredited associations.

The ANGAT program is the local version of the  HOPE (Holding Opportunity for Productive Entrepreneurship) originally known as the SEA-K (Self Employment Assistance Kaunlaran ) program.
