SoCot urge public to constrain movement as rising Covid-19 infections surge

South Cotabato, Koronadal City- South Cotabato’s chief of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr., conducted a press conference and said that out of 2,145 confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in the province as of Monday night, 86 percent or 1,855 are local cases or transmitted in local communities.

The gathered data showed an increasing rate of community transmission of the disease due to exposure to public areas that are traced to public places, including events and related activities.

Aturdido added that the rate is much higher in Koronadal City, the province’s capital and lone component city. From 279 active cases in the province, 131 are from Koronadal.

That is why Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.,  urged residents to avoid unnecessary movements, like attending parties and other related events or activities.

“I’m calling on everyone to be cautious, limit your movements if possible and always follow the minimum health protocols, especially the wearing of face mask and face shield, and the safe physical distancing,” governor Tamayo said.
