Koronadal City—The Local Culture and Arts Council of South Cotabato pushes to recognize model cultural workers, artists, and groups, extending cash award, too.
Jenifer Tupas, the Technical Working Group (TWG) Leader, said the team is reviewing the selection guidelines for Tubas Taliambong Award as of press time.
Tubas Taliambong is a Hiligaynon word for Arts Harvest. It is a local recognition body to identify exemplary individuals, organizations’ performance in the Arts and Culture in the following fields: literature, music, dance, theater, painting, sculpture, architecture, and cultural education developed through the years such as media arts, interior design, landscaping.
TWG proposes to award Outstanding Artist and Group during the Provincial Arts Festival marking the celebration of the arts of South Cotabato in February, Tupas, who is the tourism officer of Lake Sebu, said.
Indira Cagaanan, Arts and Culture Program Head, stressed out that the cash award will be presented to the council for discussion and approval. Her section then presents a recommendation to the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum Development (ACTM) for budget allocation.
“Some of our artists and cultural workers are getting old, and we don’t have enough time to cherish their works,” Cagaanan said.
According to the guidelines, nominees are artists, cultural workers, or, groups, who have continued service in the last five years with no pending administrative or civil case. The nominee shall be endorsed by the Local Government Unit.
Meanwhile, the nominees will submit artistic/ creative, cultural works through publications and presentations in the last five (5) years as supporting documents, including documents supporting the claim for awards received.
LGU could nominate at least three nominees.
The selection committee shall be composed of ACTM, representatives from the academe, government-related agencies, and arts sectoral groups.
TWG will release the criteria at the soonest possible time. The deadline for nominations is December 1 of every year.
