At least Php6.23 million worth of pre-harvest facilities and machinery were given to various farmer groups in South Cotabato coming from the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 12 as part of its mechanization program to increase yield and lower the cost of farm production.
During the turn-over ceremony held earlier today, the facilities given include the following:
15 rice transplanter worth Php 367,500/unit or a total of Php5.512,500
Beneficiaries:
- Banga – Nenita Farm and Integrated Learning Center at Dajay Kusan Irrigators Association Incorporated
- Koronadal – Morning Star Irrigators Association inc. at BLGU Avancena
- Surallah – Pumasilang Irrigators Association Inc., BLGU Moloy, BLGU Dajay
- Nino – BLGU Roxas at BLGU Teresita
- Norala- BLGU BS Aquino
Seed Spreader worth Php71,820 /unit for a total of Php718,200
Beneficiaries:
- Tantangan – Ilocano Farmers Association
- Koronadal – Last Leaf Irrigators Association, Supon Irrigation Services Association at San Isidro Carpenter Hill Small Water Irrigation Association
- Polomolok – Lumakil and Brgy.Sumbakil According to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG), These pre-harvest facilities have undergone strict validation and pertinent documents were processed prior to their release. The turn-over ceremony was spearheaded by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., Boardmember Antonio Fungan, and PA Raul Teves.
Meanwhile, earlier this month the DA 12 through the OPAG also distributed two (2) pole pruners to the Mango Industry Development Council of South Cotabato. The said council was also a recipient of the 110 plastic crates which was received by its representative Mr. Paquito Rubio from the municipality of Tantangan.
Moreover, the five more Rural Improvement Clubs and 4H Clubs received livelihood financial assistance each from the agriculture department worth Php15,000 each. These groups include Colongulo RIC of Brgy. Colongulo, Surallah; T’bong Takunel RIC of Brgy. Takunel, Lake Sebu; Purok Tboli 4H Club of Brgy. Lake Lahit, Lake Sebu ; and Kesigkay 4H Club of Brgy. Lambuling, Tboli. The projects they have chosen include Organic Goat Raising Project, Swine Dispersal Project, and Rice Retailing Project.
