CT scan, 2D echo operation ready for DOH, FDA evaluation

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) team will arrive in South Cotabato for the evaluation of computerized tomography (CT) scans and 2D echo at the Provincial Hospital to determine the conduciveness of the medical equipment to its area, Chief of Hospitals Dr. Conrado Brana confirmed.

The evaluation is set on March 28.

Dr. Brana said the staff who will operate the machine have undergone training recently. A second phase of the training is already set before this month ends.

“I am the first patient to test the accuracy and reliability of the machine,” Brana said.

According to Braña, all of the requirements have previously been submitted to DOH. The DOH people will observe the hands-on operation.

DOH approved the design of the building where the machine will be housed.

“We can now start our CT scan operation anytime soon as long as the license is approved by the FDA” Dr. Braña stressed out.

CT scans may be performed to help diagnose tumors, investigate internal bleeding, or check for other internal injuries or damage. Meanwhile, 2D Echo is a technique used to “see” the actual motion of the heart structures.

“Our government is committed to providing South Cotabatenos with the best in health care, and today’s investment is a big step forward for health care here in the province,” Brana added.
