Gov. Tamayo leads turn-over ceremony of SOCSKSARGEN general hospital

Koronadal City—The Provincial Government of South Cotabato turned over the responsibility of the SOCSKSARGEN General Hospital (SGH) to the Department of Health in a ceremony held earlier this day at Suralah, South Cotabato.

“We hopefully donate it fully soon,” Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. said after he gave the key of responsibility to Dr. Ceril Borromeo, the Medical Center Chief.

The governor expressed his full support to hasten the upgrading of SGH to accommodate more patients.

Tamayo signed the transfer of the existing facilities, equipment, manpower, accounting unit and operations to DOH.

The SGH compound now housed three buildings, including a newly constructed DOH-funded edifice. It has 143 employees who will ensure the hospital’s operation.

The DOH envisioned to upgrade the SGH as the main regional hospital in SOCSKSARGEN to a world-class health facility in the Philippines in 2028 and in southeast Asia in 2035.

SGH is formerly known as the Upper Valley Community Hospital which was built in 2018 during the time of former Governor and now elected Vice-Governor Arthur Pingoy, Jr.
