18 IP Professionals attend two-day GST Training

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the Provincial Population Office (PPO) spearheaded early this week the conduct of the two-day Training of Trainers on Gender Sensitivity to at least Eighteen Indigenous Peoples (IP) professionals at Centro Inn, Barangay Tasiman in Lake Sebu.

These IP professionals belonging to Blaan, Tboli, and Ubo tribes will form part of the Provincial IP Pool of Trainers and Speakers Bureau of Gender and Development.

They will cascade the advocacies on Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children and other GAD-related laws including the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and the Anti-Child Marriage Law for IP communities, particularly in far-flung and Geographically Isolated and Depressed Areas.

The training is one In a series of training held under PPO. Early this month, another GST training was also held for media practitioners in the province.

The closing program was graced by Honorable Junette Hurtado, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chairperson on Women, Family, and Population Development.
