NCIP invited to join SCCAC

The National Commission for Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) was invited to become a member of the South Cotabato Culture & Arts Council (SCCAC), this was discussed by the SCCAC members during the 4th Quarter Regular Meeting held recently at Lemsnolon Home Stay, T’boli.

The decision was an offshoot of the talk rednderd by NCIP Provincial Officer Trecero on the Indigenous Peoples Reform Act or IPRA Law.

The Arts, Culture, Tourism and Musem Unit (ACTMU) which is the Secretariat of the SCCAC was tasked to draft a resolution enjoining NCIP to be a member of the council starting next year.

Trecero thanked the council for the invitation and promised to attend the meetings upon approval of the resolution.

IPs are represented in the SCCAC through the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) coming  from the province’s 11 LGUs.
