The Regional Director of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources – Environment Management Bureau (DENR-EMB XII) Omar Saikol lauded the province of South Cotabato for the approval of the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) of the 10-Year SWM Master Plan for the period 2023 – 2032 of the 10 municipal local government units (MLGUs).
In his message during the 7th South Cotabato Ecology Day held recently, Saikol praised the 10 MLGUs which crafted, presented and ably defended their respective SWM Master Plan before the NSWMC through zoom application.
“South Cotabato is the first province in SOCSKSARGEN Region approved by NSWMC,” Saikol pointed out. For the City of Koronadal LGU, Saikol said that he is hopeful that NSWMC approval may come on November 28.
An NSWMC-approved resolution was officially handed over to each of the 10-MLGUs during thew recognition ceremony.
DENR-EMB XII staff who provided technical assistance in the crafting of the SWM Master Plan were likewise recognized during the ceremony.
