Rising vehicular accidents mark approach of Christmas season

The number of vehicular accidents has been on the rise in the days leading up to Christmas. According to Police Major Ramil Aruelo, Information Officer of the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office, from October 1 to November 30 of the current year, there have been 336 recorded cases of vehicular accidents, surpassing the figures from the past two years, which were 311 in 2021 and 340 in 2022.

He added that the towns of Polomolok and the city of Koronadal have consistently reported the highest number of cases over the past three years. Out of the 336 cases, 37 occurred in the morning, and 239 happened at night. There were 325 incidents on the roads, while 11 occurred in parking areas.

At present, Police Major Aruelo strongly reminds everyone to be more responsible while driving and to follow the safety tips provided by their office. This reminder is crucial, especially as Christmas approaches, where many are planning festivities and might overlook proper precautions, particularly with regard to alcohol consumption.
