Moderated by Information Officer II Anna Liz Cabrido, Asaria disclosed that the Festival’s humble beginning started in 1998 at the height of the celebrated recognition of Bai Lang Dulay of Lake Sebu, the first Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardee for t’nalak weaving.
It was only in 2000 under then Governor Hilario de Pedro III, Asaria added that the word t’nalak was coined and eventually adopted as the official name of the festival of South Cotabato.
“This year is the 25th T’nalak Festival, so expect added attractions,” Asaria pointed out.
“For one, there will be only 3 hired bands during the nightly street band entertainment but expect them to be bongga,” Asaria revealed.
The national modern dance contest likewise might be also revived, Asaria said, which also gained popularity during its launching a few years back.
Other activities expected are the Opening and Anniversary Programs, Mutya ng South Cotabato Pageant, Bahay Kubo, Panubli-on, T’nalak Food Court, Hip-hp[/Folk Dance Contest, Motocross, Grand Float Competition, Thematic Parade, Drum & Lyre Competition, Street-Dancing Competition, Pamulak sa T’nalak, Farmers Day, IP Day, Governor’s Night, and other special events
