“Panubli,’ (a Hiligaynon term meaning inheritance) of South Cotabato’s {Indigenous Peoples (IP) cultural heritage will be experienced by the general public this coming 25th T’nalak Festival and 58th Foundation Anniversary staged from July 11 – 18, 2024.
A Bahay Kubo will feature T’boli and B’laan weavers showcasing their respective t’nalak and tabih weaving as well as bead works.
Located in front of DPWH Office along Alunan Avenue, the Panubli bahay kubo is curated by Koronadal City’s fashion gutu Jared Servano.
T’boli and B’laan weaving gained national recognition when 2 local weavers, namely; the former Boie Lang Dulay, a T’boli princess from Lake Sebu and likewise the former Fu Yabing Masalon Dulo of Polomolok were accorded the Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) for weaving by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Lang Dulay, noted for t’nalak weaving and Fu Yabing for tabih weaving, were the first National Living Treasure awardees of South Cotabato.
This year, 3 more South Cotabatenos were conferred the GAMABA award; Bundos Farra for brasscasting, Barbara Ofong for weaving and Rosie Sula for chanting, all from Lake Sebu,
Indeed, our National Living Treasures are the living proof of South Cotabato’s rich, unique and diverse culture that is worthy of appreciation for generations to come.
