South Cotabato, Philippines – Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. has assured the victims of the recent motornapping incident in Tantangan, South Cotabato that authorities are actively working to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
“Gusto ko lang ipabalo sa probinsya sang South Cotabato, labi na sa mga biktima, nga wala kita gauntat nga matagaan sila hustisya sa anuman nga pamaagi,” he affirmed.
The governor announced during the “Gov Meets the Press” that one of the suspects involved in the incident had passed away on September 1, 2024. The suspect is a resident of Datu Unsay, Maguindanao del Sur.
There are two other alleged suspects who remain at large and are being pursued by the police, Governor Tamayo said.
“Ang isa sa mga nag motornap sa Tantangan, nagtaliwan na… Napatay na ang isa kag may ara pa sang duha nga pangitaonon pa gid,” Gov. Tamayo Jr. stated.
Accordingly, the governor explained that the suspects were identified based on the testimony of an apprehended accomplice and corroborated by CCTV footage.
“Through CCTV kag may ara kita sang carnapper nga nadakpan. Ang nadakpan naghambal nga amo ning mga pangalan. Sang gin- check naton sa CCTV, halos parehas gid,” Gov. Tamayo Jr. added.
He further mentioned that the suspects are believed to belong to a gang group, but they are still withholding the group’s identity until the information is fully verified and confirmed.
In earlier media briefings, Gov. Tamayo Jr. assured the residents of South Cotabato that officials and law enforcement are intensifying security at boundary barangays and checkpoints throughout the province as a preventive measure following the recent incident.
Furthermore, local authorities continue to implement security measures to protect the province’s residents and ensure their safety and well-being.
