A teacher from one of the newly operational Madaris schools in South Cotabato has expressed deep gratitude for the provincial government’s support in revitalizing Islamic education in the region.
The completion of the Madaris learning centers was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Mahintana Foundation Inc., DOLE Philippines, AY Foundation Inc., the 5th Special Forces Battalion, and the 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade of the Philippine Army, along with the Provincial Government of South Cotabato and the Municipal Government of Polomolok.
Two Madaris education centers have been established: Madrasah Arramaniyah Al-Islamiah in Sitio Bio, Barangay Lapu, and the Maharlika Islamic Learning Center in Purok Maharlika, Barangay Magsaysay, both located in Polomolok. These centers were developed under the Mahintana Foundation’s Promoting Peace Engagements and Community Empowerment (ProPEACE 2) Program, with support from the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF).
Zharina Usop, a teacher in one of the Madrasah schools, shared her heartfelt appreciation for the government’s intervention. “Damo gid kami naga pasalamat kay Gov. Jun Tamayo, kay for how many years—more than 10 years karon lang nahatagan pagtagad kag nagbag-o amon Madrasah Schools,” Usop said, emphasizing how the initiative has transformed the landscape of Madrasah education in the community.
This significant project represents the ongoing efforts to promote peace, education, and cultural understanding in South Cotabato, especially among its Muslim population.
