10,000 jobs filled as Governor Tamayo drives economic growth in South Cotabato

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. proudly announced that the province has reached its goal of creating 10,000 new jobs, fulfilling his commitment to bolster employment opportunities and economic growth. When he made this statement during his State of the Province Address last July, the governor was determined to highlight that through increased investments in green energy, high-value crops, and tourism, the province has drawn significant interest from investors, leading to this impressive job creation milestone.

“With the increasing investments in South Cotabato, 10,000 new jobs are already completed,” Governor Tamayo stated. He emphasized the provincial government’s dedication to enhancing economic opportunities, which has been instrumental in attracting new investors.

“Our initiatives in renewable energy and agriculture, especially in high-value crops, have shown the vast potential of South Cotabato. This has paved the way for meaningful, sustainable employment for our people,” he added.

One of the latest economic strides includes signed  Information Technology (IT) Economic Zone. Governor Tamayo is optimistic about its future impact, saying, “The signing of the economic zone for IT in South Cotabato marks another wave of job employment. We are preparing the province to be a hub for innovation and technology, which will open new avenues for our youth and skilled workers.”

The governor’s efforts have already contributed to a marked decrease in poverty within South Cotabato. The provincial poverty rate, which once stood at 20 percent, has now fallen to 13 percent under Tamayo’s leadership. This improvement underscores his administration’s commitment to uplifting the lives of South Cotabato’s residents.

During the recent T’nalak Festival 2024, Anti-Poverty Commission  Secretary Lope Santos III recognized the governor’s achievements, remarking, “Governor Tamayo has woven economic opportunities for job employment among the residents, making South Cotabato a model of inclusive growth in the region.”

As the province continues to grow, Governor Tamayo remains committed to building upon this progress. He expressed confidence that the investments in infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and technology will keep South Cotabato on a path toward economic resilience, further enhancing quality of life for all residents.
