South Cotabato prepares for Arts Month celebration

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Museum Development and Promotions Unit of South Cotabato will gather on January 24, 2025, to finalize activities for the month-long event.

Tourism Operations Officer II Indira N. Cagaanan shared that the event’s focus is to showcase local arts and culture, with tentative plans for exhibits and other related activities. These proposals are still under discussion and await approval. Cagaanan emphasized that National Arts Month provides a valuable opportunity for local artists to present their work, from traditional crafts to agricultural products, on a platform that celebrates South Cotabato’s rich heritage.

“This is the perfect time for our artists to display what we have—whether it’s our crops, arts, or culture,” Cagaanan said, underscoring the importance of promoting local talent and products.

The activities will not only highlight South Cotabato’s cultural diversity but also aim to boost local pride and foster support for regional industries, benefiting both artists and communities.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has long advocated for the growth and development of the province, emphasizing that strengthening tourism is key to enhancing South Cotabato’s economy.

National Arts Month is seen as a significant step toward achieving this goal, as it will attract attention to local talent and cultural assets. By promoting the province’s unique arts and crafts, the celebration aims to increase tourism, create economic opportunities, and support the local creative industry.

The successful execution of these events is expected to bring long-term benefits to South Cotabato, advancing both its cultural and economic prosperity.
