Over 150 Families in Tantangan Gain Access to Safe Water Through PHP 2.4-Million Project

TANTANGAN, South Cotabato — Over 150 families in Sitio Matimus, Barangay Dumadalig, Tantangan, South Cotabato, are now benefiting from the recently completed Potable Water System Level III, providing them with much-needed access to clean and safe drinking water.

The vital infrastructure project, amounting to PHP 2,409,161.53, was funded through the 20% Local Development Fund (LDF) of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato which was made possible through the initiative of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to uplift remote communities.

The project addressed the long-standing issue of limited access to clean and safe drinking water in Sitio Matimus, where residents previously relied on distant or unsafe water sources.

Governor Tamayo emphasized the importance of the initiative, describing it as a step toward equitable development and a manifestation of the province’s “Tama at Maayos na serbisyo” brand of public service.

“This is a step toward equitable development and a reflection of our commitment to the ‘Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo’ brand of public service which makes our province ‘Angat sa Lahat’,” Governor Tamayo further stated.

With the completion of the Level III water system, households now receive piped water directly to their homes—bringing not only convenience but also improved hygiene and reduced health risks.

Grateful residents welcomed the development with optimism, expressing how the project significantly improved their quality of life.

The potable water system project forms part of a broader strategy by the provincial government to enhance access to essential services in underserved communities across South Cotabato.
