NSWMC approves SouthCot LGUs 10-Yr SWM Plan

The National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) approved the 10-Year Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plan of the 10 municipalities and lone city of South Cotabato after their presentation held at NSWMC Office in Metro Manila last October 8.

City and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (C/MENRO) personnel prepared well for their respective presentation with the conduct of Writeshop and Coaching/Mentoring together with the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), NSWMC and DENR-EMB.

Earlier, the C/MENROs conducted a Writeshop and Coaching last May 20 – 22 at Mt. Sabrina Panoramic View nd Resort in Gen. Santos City and followed by the same last August 25 -26 in Lake Sebu.

Prior to the October 8 presentation, the C/MENROs once again met in the Polomolok MENRO on September 28 and conducted a “mock” presentation spearheaded by PEMO led by Senior Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag.

PEMO Officer-In-Charge Siegfred Flaviano led the presentation of the province’s 10-Year SWM Plan with a particular focus on the interventions they will initiate to assist further and harmonize the SWM plan of the respective LGU with that of the province.

Vice-Governor Cecil Diel, Board Member Jobeelyn Baitus Corilla and Board Member Ellen Grace Subere Albios (SP Committee on Environment Chair) together with SEMS Balucanag also attended the presentation.
