PEMO conducts Solid Waste Management Enforcers training

CITY OF KORONADAL — In preparation for the week-long 2016 T’nalak Festival which coincided with the 50th or “Golden” Foundation Anniversary of South Cotabato, the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) conducted a whole-day training for Solid Waste Management (SWM) Enforcers last June 28 at Villa Princessita, this city.

Eighteen (18) SWM Enforcers recruited by PEMO – Environment Management Division under Senior Environment management Specialist underwent said training which consisted of lecture series on SWM and actual or “hands-on” training.

The topics and discussants were RA 9003 or ESWM of 2000 / Waste Characterization (WACS) – Leo Atangan; Moral Values Formation – Reynaldo Fabrigar; Duties and Functions of SWM Enforcers – Jobie de Jesus; Procedures in Apprehending Violators Based on Anti-Littering Ordinance – Genie Famisan; and, Legal Considerations in Apprehensions – Atty. Marnito Cosep, PEMO Legal Desk Officer.

Alfredo Superales, PEMO staff, meanwhile led the WACS “hands-on” where SWM Enforcers classified the different types of wastes into residual, biodegradable, special/toxic wastes and recyclables.

The SWM Enforcers will be divided into 3 teams with 6 members each for the 24-hour round-the-clock duty from July 10 – 19.

PEMO chief Siegfred Flaviano also attended the activity and gave a message.
