Members of the Provincial League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Officers (PLLENRO) – South Cotabato have expressed their support to the 1st Matutum Bio-Diversity YES-O Alliance Camp which will be held on September 23 -25 at Cebuano National High School in Tupi, during their regular monthly meeting hosted by Lake Sebu LGU recently.
Forester Mary Jane Manlisis, chief of the Forest and Inland Water Division of the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) disclosed during the meeting that 13 schools with YES-O or Youth in Environment Schools Organization under the alliance of the Bio-Diversity Corridor established by PEMO will join the 3-day Science Camp with its theme “Mt. Matutum YES-O…Going Wild for Life.”
Joining from Tupi town are Cebuano National High School, Lemblisong Elementary School, Kablon Elementary School, Glandang Elementary School, Kablon National High School, Jose D. Escobillo National High School, Ricardo Avila Elementary School, Acmonan Elementary School and Tupi National High School; while in Tampakan joining are Maltana National High School, Lambayong Elementary School, Lampitak National High School and Cariaga-Mercado Elementary School.
YES-O activities will focus on Video-making and Lecture Series with the following topics and discussants; Concepts on Bio-Diversity Resources and the Bio-Diversity Corridor (PEMO/MENRO-Tupi/Tampakan), Mt. Matutum Protected Landscape and its Conservation Initiatives (PASu-MMPL), Solid Waste Management Workshop ( Cebuano National High School) and Dalaw Turo (DENR-12).
Other activities included are Torch Parade during the Opening Night, nightly Literary Musical presentation, Mt. Matutum Collage making, Election of Officers and Eco-Challenge cum Tree-Planting as culmination activity.
PLENRO is an organization composed of environment officers and environment officers-designate in the province.
