The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) has reported a steady increase in the collection of its Sand, Gravel and Mining (SGM) Tax from January to August this year which now reached P12,832,948.28,.
Based from the financial report of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO), the SGM tax collection for the month of August totaled P2,010, 035.00.
PTO earlier reported a collection of P10,822,913.28 from January to July this year.
The present average monthly collection for the 8-month collection is now P1,604,118.54, so far the highest monthly average when the collection of SGM tax was implemented among small-sclaw miners and quarry operators many years ago.
South Cotabato’s share on the SGM tax also increased from its 7-month share of P4,426,686.91 to its present share of P5,268,642.41.
Provincial imposition on SGM tax includes Sand and Gravel Tax, Mining Tax, Mining Permit Fee, Ore Transport Fee, Occupational Mining Tax, Verification Fee, Filing Fee, Permit Fee, Projection Fee, Processing Fee, Fines/Penalties/Surcharges and Miscellaneous (Delivery Receipts).
