Eight (8) hospitals and clinics located in the province were monitored by the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Health Care Waste Treatment Facility on December 5 – 6, Senior Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag of the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) disclosed recently in an interview.
Balucanag said the monitoring is mandated under Provincial Ordinance # 6, Series of 2016 or the Health Care Waste Management Ordinance recently enacted by the Sangguniand Panlalawigan.
She pointed out that the hospitals and clinics were assessed of “their compliance on the documentary requirements set by EMB, DOH and LGU and operational requirements particularly on how they handle Infectious Waste.”
Hospitals and clinics monitored by the TWG are located in Koronadal City, Surallah and Sto. Nino.
Monitored in Koronadal City were Dr. Arturo Pingoy Medical Center, Allah Valley Medical Specialists Center and Hospital, SOCOMEDICS Medical Center and South Cotabato Provincial Hospital.
Likewise, Surallah Community Hospital, Landero Clinic and Hospital and Lariosa Clinic and Hospital in Surallah and Clinica Luntao Inc. in Sto. Nino were also monitored.
Findings and recommendations regarding the monitoring activity will be sent to said hospitals and clinics before the year ends while the monitoring or assessment of the remaining hospitals and clinics in the province will be conducted early next year, Balucanag further added.
