The 2024 Search for the Most Outstanding Indigenous Peoples (IP) Model Family has concluded with a grand celebration of culture, resilience, and community spirit. This prestigious award, now in its 9th year, recognizes families who exemplify the values of family welfare, cultural preservation, and active community involvement.
This year, the honor was awarded to Mr. Ernesto and Mrs. Anding Panding from the Municipality of Lake Sebu, whose remarkable story captured the hearts of the judges and their community. As the Grand Winners, the Pandings received a cash prize of ₱50,000 and were also named champions of the 2024 IP Model Family Facebook Video Contest, earning an additional ₱8,000.
The Search for the Most Outstanding IP Model Family aims to spotlight families who inspire others through their achievements in promoting family welfare, development, and Responsible Parenthood. Families are encouraged to take active roles in population development and contribute to the progress of their communities and the country.
In an emotional moment during the awards ceremony, Mrs. Anding Panding reflected on the values that guide their family. She said:
“What we treasure most is our children’s education. Hindi magara ang aming bahay kahit may mga trabaho na kami kasi mas gugustuhin naming suportahan ang pag-aaral ng aming mga anak. Ang bahay pwedeng mabulok, pero ang edukasyon hinding-hindi mawawala at hindi mananakaw sa aming mga anak.”
Her words resonated deeply with everyone present, showcasing their unwavering commitment to their children’s future and the importance of education. This steadfast belief in building a better future through learning embodies the essence of the awards program.
Other inspirational families were also honored during the celebration. The first runner-up, Mr. Jaime and Mrs. Bonita Dani from Tboli, received ₱30,000 for their dedication to cultural preservation and education. Second Runner-Up: Mr. Deonie and Mrs. Elvicia Salinda from Polomolok received ₱20,000 for their dedication to community development. Consolation Prize Winners: Non-winning nominees received ₱10,000 for their efforts to promote Indigenous values and positive change.
As this year’s awards wrap up, it’s clear that families like the Pandings, Danis, and Salindas are the backbone of their communities. Their values of hard work, unity, and education remind us all of the importance of preserving our traditions while striving for progress.
The 2024 IP Model Family Awards leave us with a powerful message: resilience, dedication, and love for family can lead to lasting change. Let’s continue to honor and celebrate the remarkable stories of our Indigenous families as we work together toward a brighter future.
