Validators from the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 9 recommended that Provincial Government of South Cotabato for the National Evaluation of the Seal of Good Local Governance last September 20, 2023 held at the PDC Hall, Third floor, New Building, Provincial Capitol Compound.
The Seal of Good Local Governance is an award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government in recognition of remarkable local government performance across several areas, that highlights integrity and good performance to institutionalize local governance reforms in the continuing pursuit for meaningful local autonomy and development.
The Provincial Planning and Development Office headed by Atty. Renette Begado spearheaded the preparation in coordination with the DILG South Cotabato headed by Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero.
Four Validators coming from DILG Region 9 validated different government areas and services provided by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato. In addition, the Municipalities of Tupi and Polomolok, and the City of Koronadal were also validated for the national evaluation.
Meanwhile, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. expressed his gratitude to the recommendation of the validators stating that the hard work is not his alone but the product of the hard work of the employees of the Provincial Government.
Furthermore, it can be recalled that last 2013, South Cotabato has been an awardee of the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi Award – a distinction comparable to today’s Seal of Good Local Governance.
The awardees for the national evaluation of the Seal of Good Local Governance is set to be announced before the year ends.
