DOH Approves ProTech as Provincial Hospital Extension

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development in Region XII, through a letter dated August 17, 2020, formally informed the Provincial Government of South Cotabato (PGSC) that the construction of the four (4) storey hospital building may now be transferred to the Productivity and Technology (ProTech) Center area beside the Provincial Capitol grounds.

The design and build of the hospital building procured by the DOH is a grant from the 2018 HFEP General Appropriations Act. The said national law states that an amount of two hundred million pesos (P200,000,000.00) is allocated for the “South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, Koronadal City.”

The letter signed by Director IV Aristides Concepcion Tan, MD, MPH, CESO III, stated that the fund is expected to be used for the improvement of the services of the aforementioned hospital.

Earlier this year, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved Resolution No. 61 Series of 2020 which enacts Ordinance No. 2 declaring the ProTech Center as the expansion area of the SCPH, after Provincial Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. requested for its approval.

It can be recalled that it was Governor Tamayo who asked the SP to declare the 2,332.556 square meter-land area at the ProTech Center as the extension of the hospital compound.

“Given the facts of the project, we in all efforts and good faith agree that the erection of the four (4) storey hospital building in ProTech is for the improvement of services of the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Koronadal City, and most importantly, it is for the best interest of the people in South Cotabato, Philippines. Looking forward for your full cooperation with regard to the implementation of the project,” the letter stated.
