CITY OF KORONADAL — The Department of Tourism (DOT) 12 is drum-beating their “Treasures of SOX (SOCCSKSARGEN)” Travel and Trade Expo which will be held this coming April 11 – 14 at Glorietta Activity Center, Makati City with the conduct of meeting with government information officers last February 4 at Cinco Ninas, this city.
DOT 12 Regional Director Nelly Nita Dillera presented the plan to the government media present in which she disclosed that the activity is supported by Regional Development Council 12 resolution dated December 2015 that organizes the convergence of national line agencies such as DTI, DA, DENR, DOL:E and LGUs to support the hosting of this regional event.
Dillera coined the word “SOX” to short-cut the acronym SOCCSKSARGEN, whose capital letters represent the cities and provinces of Region 12.
DOT 12 targets P 10 million to be generated in terms of cash, booked and negotiated sales for tourism sites operators, property owners or tour operators and another P 10 million for SOX fresh and processed products.
Likewise, the expo will launch and showcase new sites and Visit Philippines 2016 Lined-up Events in SOX and new products in the region.
“The expo will also become a regional avenue for market and supply matching activities and sales calls activities,” Dillera added.
Aside from the Travel and Trade Fair, Side Events lined up are the Sales Calls (daily-onsite) Business Matching (daily-onsite), Investment Matching (April 13-offsite), Cultural Performances (daily-onsite), Fashion/Product Show (April 11-onsite) and SOX Parade during the opening (April 11).
Exhibitors from the region are expected to fill up the 40 booths set for the 4-day activity.
