Eight barangays in SouthCot unaffected with drugs

Police authorities cited eight (8) barangays in South Cotabato as the remaining barangays unaffected with drugs in the province based on the latest report on the  Status of Drug Clearing from the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office.

LtCol Emerson D. Policarpio, chief of the Police Community Affairs and Development Group said these eight barangays came from the three municipalities in the province.

These include Barangay Assumption in Koronadal City; Barangay Denlag,Halilan, Hanoon, and Klubi in Lake Sebu; and Brgy. Afus, Momocayo and Tbolok in Tboli.

The report also reveals that out of the 199 barangays in the province, 140 were considered as cleared barangays while 51 remains affected.

The report came after the Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program conducted validation of each barangays.

The committee chaired by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency together with the representatives from DILG, PNP, DOH, and the Local government unit is set to convene again to work things out on the implementation of new guidelines, new parameters that will be used by the drug clearing team before the end of this month of May or June.

According to PDEA, the committee concerned is tasked to validate the non-availability of drug supply in the area and the absence of drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory, and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pusher, and user.
