South Cotabato, Philippines — The South Cotabato Provincial Agriculture Office has officially inaugurated the Multi-purpose Drying Pavement (MPDP) in Purok Malipayon in Barangay Moloy and Sitio Datal Banate in Barangay Upper Sepaka, Surallah, South Cotabato.
Supervising Agriculturist Engr. Joan M. Batobalani emphasized the importance of the project for the farming community, particularly in remote areas.
“This sustainable solution addresses the challenges of farmers in securing adequate space to dry their crops. It is to enhance post-harvest facilities, offering essential support to farmers, particularly those in remote areas, ensuring a more efficient and reliable process for preserving their produce,” Batobalani said.
The farmers also expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato for their thoughtful initiative in providing a convenient, dedicated space for drying essential products such as corn, rice, and vegetables. This support eases the drying process and ensures better harvest quality.
Provincial Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. highlighted that his administration is committed to improving the local agricultural productivity and increasing the livelihoods of farmers in South Cotabato.
“Our goal is to provide sustainable support and create opportunities for growth in the agricultural sector, ensuring the well-being of our farmers and the continued development of our province,” the governor said.
The turnover ceremony was led by Engr. Joan Batobalani, Engr. Mahalea U. Sabilla and Engr. Ralph Jann D. Delalamon, with the support of OIC Municipal Agriculturist of Surallah, Josephine C. Portugalete, and local officials from the Barangay Local Government Unit.
