Gov. Tamayo allocates additional P20M to KPSP

Koronadal City—With the pressing problem of the implementation of the Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary students, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato  allotted an additional P20M under the Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship Program, specifically the Grant-in-Aid, to shoulder school fees of students who have not availed the UniFAST and ensure that no students are left behind to earn their degree.

During the  Hinunanon sa Kapitolyo, Janly Aspera, Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship Program Coordinator, said with the additional fund, the Grant-In-Aid scholar would receive P15, 000 financial assistance from the P10, 000 previous tuition fee assistance.

The Grant-in-Aid Assistance is open to all year level “as long as the student is not a scholar from any institution, Aspera explained.

As of the moment, KPSP covers 484 active scholars in South Cotabato while there are 694 grantees enrolled in the Visayas and Luzon.

Meanwhile, Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. told reporters during his regular Monday Meet the Press that his proposal is at the Sangguniang Panlalalawigan level for approval.

“I talked to President Marcos to guarantee the continued funding of UniFAST in the following years, for we understand that our government is struggling because of the pandemic,” the governor .

He said there are no funds for the UniFAST program in seven tertiary schools.

“I submitted my proposal to PBBM to guarantee that South Cotabato students have the opportunity to complete their college degrees. We wanted to produce young people who would serve the public.

He added that his administration created job opportunities and improved migration management in South Cotabato.

In the last three months, foreign investors around East Asia visited the province to look for investment in agriculture, housing, and tourism.
