Koronadal City—Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Loreto Cabaya, Jr. to form a partnership in the disaster relief operation.
“DSWD established the nearest warehouse in local government units to pre-position the relief stocks to better respond to natural disasters,” the governor said.
DSWD decided to stock 500 family food packs at the nearest warehouse in the LGU to pre-position for disasters could provide and assist affected communities during disasters.
“This is a strategy to increase the availability of food supplies and cut the hauling time from the regional warehouse to the vulnerable communities,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Regional Director Cabaya stressed that the provincial government identified the Demo Farm warehouse in Banga to file the DSWD food stocks. The MOA stated that the regional office is free from paying any fee for storing the food supplies.
“If no calamities are happening in South Cotabato, DSWD is donating the family food packs to the activities of the Provincial Government before its expiry date,” Cabaya said.
DSWD considered moving the supply chain to avoid loss of inventory.
