Gov. Tamayo Urges Preparedness Amid Earthquake Predictions

South Cotabato, Philippines—Gov. Tamayo recently addressed concerns about an impending major earthquake, stating that while predictions suggest a significant earthquake could strike within the week, it is crucial to remain calm and prepared.

Yesterday morning, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Mindanao; however, the tremor did not affect South Cotabato, where the governor spoke.

Tamayo stated.

Despite this, Gov. Tamayo emphasized the importance of being ready for any eventuality. He highlighted that earthquake predictions are speculative, and no one can determine when or where a major event might occur.

He reassured the public that panic is unnecessary, urging everyone to practice relaxation techniques during an earthquake and avoid rushing or panicking.

The governor reminded the public of the long-standing preparations made by local authorities and communities.

He pointed out that the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and medical workers continuously prepare for such scenarios.

Gov. Tamayo called on all employees to remain vigilant and pray for protection, not only for their families but also for the safety of the province.

Wag mag tulakan at wag mag takbuhan.”

Tamayo added.

While the possibility of an earthquake remains uncertain, the governor encouraged everyone to continue following safety practices that have been drilled over the years.

Gov. Tamayo’s statement reminds everyone that safety and readiness should always be a priority, even amidst uncertainty.
