Koronadal City, South Cotabato, July 18, 2024 — Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. delivered an inspiring speech during the anniversary program of the Silver T’nalak Festival, highlighting the themes of unity, cultural heritage, and ongoing development. The festival, marking its 25th year, celebrated the rich traditions and progress of South Cotabato.
“This day is a celebration of a culture that we have, a celebration where we honor the culture that our ancestors cherished,” he said. Tamayo emphasized that the festival not only commemorates the past but also reflects the enduring unity and cultural infusion from various parts of the Philippines.
“We are descendants of the settlers of the 1930s, and the way our ancestors received us here is a testament to the spirit of inclusivity and hospitality,” he noted.
The Governor stressed that the unity and cultural history demonstrated throughout the festival’s 25-year history have been crucial to the identity of South Cotabato.
Tamayo paid homage to the sacrifices and vision of the province’s forebears, stating, “The sacrifices and vision that our ancestors had, the leaders and administration of South Cotabato had, are foundations we continue to build upon. Their dream of beautiful development and progress is one we are committed to fulfilling.”
He assured the audience that the current administration remains dedicated to the province’s growth and development.
“Through unity, we will be able to fulfill all of the promises made to us. This administration is committed to continuing the progress and development in accordance with the will and rights of South Cotabato.” He urged the people to remain united to ensure the ongoing development and prosperity of the province.
Governor Tamayo concluded his speech with a call to action, encouraging everyone to take pride in their shared heritage and to work together for a brighter future.
“Let us always remember that our history and culture are the results of unity. We are the only ones who can sing the song of progress and development if we, the people of South Cotabato, continue to stand united. Together, let us proudly proclaim that South Cotabato is the pride of all.”
The anniversary program of the Silver T’nalak Festival was a vibrant celebration attended by local officials, community leaders, and residents, featuring traditional performances, art exhibitions, and the T’nalak street dance competition.
