CITY OF KORONADAL — South Cotabato Bamboo Industry Development Council (SCBIDC) Technical Working Group (TWG) members here are now busy planning the staging of the Kawayan Festival slated on September this year.
Emmanuel Jumilla, Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and Chair of this year’s Festival disclosed that the activity will start from September 12 to 18, with the last day being celebrated as World Bamboo Day.
Some of activities lined up are the holding of Laro Kawayan, Sayaw Kawayan, Likha Kawayan, Luto kawayan, among others, which is open to elementary and high schools province-wide.
Aside from said activities, Jumilla added, SCBIDC plans to conduct techno- training on bamboo.
Participants in this week-long activity will receive cash incentives as prizes from the organizers.
SCBIDC-TWG has already conducted series of meetings to formalize the planned activities.
It is composed of representatives from PPDO, Provincial Tourism Office, PEMO, SUNAS, DTI 12, DOST 12, DA 12 and DepED – South Cotabato Division.
