No more gathering please—health authorities

Koronadal City—Provincial authorities called for much stricter self-imposed restrictions to break the chain of COVID 19 as Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) recorded Delta variant infection in South Cotabato recently.

Dr. Rogelio Aturdido, Provincial Health Chief, said Delta Variant is more infectious than the original strain of COVID 19.

“Delta variant is more transmissible,” Atrudido said in an interview, stressing the potential number of to-be infected persons is five to eight persons.

Health officials urged the public to postpone small gatherings and get-togethers to stop the spread of infection. Any size of gathering poses a risk.

In terms of Delta infection, there are three things to help make safer choices. Open spaces are safer than enclosed spaces. Farther away from others is safer than being close together. Shorter periods with each other are safer.

South Cotabato recorded 11 persons with COVID 19 Delta variant at this time.
