Norala’s Kamayadan Fest to push through

The 13th Kamayadan Festival slated on March 1-10, 2020 of the municipality of Norala will push through despite the threat due to the coronavirus disease, African Swine fever, and the limited budget.
Mayor Clemente Fedoc said, there was no advisory from concerned agencies to stop the staging of the fiesta due to covid-19 considering that Norala town has no seaport and airport.
Despite these, precautionary measures are being undertaken to ensure that COVID-2019, as well as the African Swine Fever (ASF), will not enter the area.
Fedoc said police authorities are strictly monitoring the entry and exit points of the town to ensure none of those threats have the chance to enter Norala town.
“There is no way the town fiesta will not continue.” He said,
Aside from the threat of these diseases, the chief executive is still facing the challenge on the limited budget considering that the Php3.5 million supplemental budget earlier proposed was not yet approved by the Sangguniang Bayan.
He said, the existing budget now is only Php1.25 million which is enough only for some priority events.
Fedoc disclosed other events will not continue to be staged this year if the additional funds will not be granted.
“But this does not mean the festival will not continue.” He said,
Fedoc ensures the staging of the festival will go smoothly next year to avoid any hassles.
This year’s 13th Kamayadan fest coincided with the 67th emancipation and 79th Foundation Anniversary celebration with the theme: Magsinadya, Maghugpong kag Maghilusa nga may Paghigugma para sa Padayon nga Paglambo sang Mayad nga Norala”.
