KORONADAL CITY- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) chaired by Governor Reynaldo S.Tamayo Jr. is set to release at least Php35 million from its 2019 PDRRMF- Trust Fund to finance various plans and programs against the Covid-19.
During the emergency meeting held today, the council ruled out that it is not yet necessary to declare the province under the state of calamity considering there are still enough funds to be used subject to the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Based on the report coming from the IPHO, there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the province but at least 26 are considered Persons Under Monitoring (PUM).
Governor Tamayo earlier issued Executive order No. 15, directing all Local Government Units and government offices in the province of South Cotabato to adopt stricter measures and guidelines in order to prevent, curtail and contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the entire province.
The issuance was in consonance with the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 922 of President Rodrigo R. Duterte declaring the State of Public Health Emergency throughout the country.
Governor Tamayo also called on the populace not to panic, instead, everyone should follow precautionary measures to stop the spread of the virus.
Following the scarcity of the supply of alcohol and other hygiene products in the market, the chief executive said retailers should not hoard these supplies and get advantaged of the health crisis.
“There is no panic buying yet.” Governor Tamayo said,
He added if there is proof that these retailers are taking advantage they will be dealt with accordingly.
